Flite® Mid-Calf Safety Toe Boot: A Revolution in Lightweight, Insulated Protection

Written by Nelson-Jameson Inc. | Nov 5, 2025 7:12:19 PM

In industries where mobility, safety, and temperature regulation are essential, heavy traditional work boots often slow workers down. The Flite Mid-Calf Composite Toe Boot is changing this paradigm, providing superior protection and insulation in a package that is over 40% lighter than most steel toe PVC and rubber knee boots.

Engineered for optimal comfort and safety, the Flite boot is constructed from innovative, proprietary materials designed to perform exceptionally well in demanding environments like food processing, petrochemical, and chemical handling.

Read on to discover how the Flite boot delivers superior safety and unbeatable all-day comfort, and learn more about Tingley footwear here.

The revolutionary Aerex 1.5.5® material

The secret behind the Flite boot’s lightweight performance and thermal regulation is Aerex 1.5.5. This material is a proprietary, chemical-resistant, thermally-insulative, microcellular polymer.

  • Ultra-lightweight comfort: Made from Aerex 1.5.5 material, the boots are over 40% lighter than standard steel-toe PVC and rubber knee boots, resulting in unbeatable all-day comfort.

  • Thermal regulation: The material contains tiny air bubbles that are designed to keep feet warm in cold and cool in heat. The material is also insulated.

  • Ergonomic design: The boot features a lightweight upper, a cushioned heel, and a beveled heel for reduced back and leg strain.

Advanced safety and secure grip

The Flite Mid-Calf Safety Toe Boot is built to meet robust safety standards while ensuring a secure footing on wet and contaminated surfaces. The durable, seamless upper is also 100% liquidproof.

  • Composite safety toe: It features a composite safety toe that meets ASTM F2413 M/I/C EH* standards. Crucially, the composite toe will not set off metal detectors, a major advantage in controlled environments.
  • Superior slip resistance: The outsole is the Chevron-Plus® pattern and is made of slip-resistant nitrile rubber. This outsole provides superior grip on dry, wet and contaminated surfaces and meets ASTM F2413 SRO for slip resistance.
  • Hazard protection: The boot provides superior chemical resistance to fats, oils, hydrocarbons, certain acids, and caustics. It also achieved a passing result for ASTM F1671 resistance to viral penetration.

Ideal applications

The Flite Boot, available in Blue and at a 10-inch height, is designed for demanding environments where chemical exposure and wet floors are routine.

Design details for workers:

  • The boot includes a thumb pocket at the top opening for a firm, no-slip grip, making easy donning possible.
  • Tread wear indicators are included on the outsole to show when half the tread has worn away.

*Electrical Hazard soles and heels are intended to reduce hazards due to accidental contact with live electrical circuits, electrically energized conductors, parts or apparatus. They are not intended for work environments where volatile chemicals or explosives may be present, where conductive footwear is required.
